How a shower pan job goes, step by step

  1. Remove the old pan or tub. Demolition finds out whether the subfloor and drain are sound.
  2. Set the drain and pan. Pre-formed pans are set in mortar and connected to the drain. Custom tile pans are built up with a waterproof liner.
  3. Test for leaks. A flood test of 24 hours is standard practice before any tile goes on.
  4. Waterproof and finish. Walls are waterproofed, then tiled or fitted with panels.
