CostLocal operates costlocal.com. This page explains what we collect and why.

The public estimator

The estimator on cost pages runs in your browser. The size, quality level and ZIP code you type are not sent to us unless you save an estimate to your account or send a quote request.

Your account

If you sign up we store your email address, name (if given by Google or entered by you), and the estimates, reports and plan status tied to your account. We use Google sign-in or an email link; we never see a Google password. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend. You can delete your account in settings, which removes this data. Payment records are kept in anonymous form for tax and accounting.

Quote requests

If you submit the "Get 3 local quotes" form, we collect your name, email, phone number, job ZIP code, notes, and the estimate you were looking at. We share these with up to three contractors or lead-matching partners who work in your area so they can contact you about the project. We do not sell the data to anyone else. Ask us to delete your request at [email protected].

Payments

Purchases are processed by Polar (Polar Software Inc.), the merchant of record. Polar collects your payment details, name, billing address and tax information under Polar's privacy policy. We receive your email, a customer ID, what you bought and the amount. We never see your card number.

Cookies and logs

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, only if you log in. We do not run advertising or tracking cookies. Our servers keep ordinary logs (IP address, page, time) for security and to count visits.

Where data is stored

Account data is stored in a database on our own server. Emails are sent through Resend, and payments are processed by Polar.

Your choices

You can see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing [email protected], and you can delete your account yourself in settings. You can turn off price-alert emails in settings. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
